Enhance your Carbon Black World experience with two optional workshops

Morning Workshop

The changing carbon black feedstock world and the impact of sourcing on total value

Monday 24 September 2018 | 09.00 - 12.30

Procurement and purchasing executives are having to become increasingly creative to get their required volumes of feedstock and insulate themselves against quality and quantity variations.

IMO2020, changing refinery feedstocks and other factors are causing the carbon black industry to face an ever dynamic world of feedstocks.  The goal of this workshop is to openly discuss the cause, effect and mitigation of each of these factors relative to sourcing carbon black feedstock on total value. Starting with a brief Feedstock 101, we will then review IMO2020, its impact on the fuel oil pricing indices and feedstock availability as competition for some traditional carbon black feedstocks will increase. It will also tie in other factors impacting feedstock availability, pricing and quality with an emphasis of sourcing on total value.

Afternoon Workshop

Recovered carbon black – from promise to products

Monday 24 September 2018 | 13.30 - 17.00

In 2018, carbon black shortages are observed in almost all regions in the world. Economic alternatives to carbon black are a hot topic. Recovered carbon black from tyre pyrolysis is one of these alternatives and the tyre pyrolysis industry has come a long way since the first commercialisations in the first oil crisis in the 70ies/8ies. Variable product consistency, volatile content, small scale and overpromising marketing are concerns that in the past have slowed down the commercialisation of recovered carbon black. Now, in 2018, the tyre pyrolysis industry is ready to capture the opportunity. A panel discussion group with industry all-stars will discuss the current status, success & application stories and future technology for recovered carbon black from tyre pyrolysis.
